Today, September 21, 2007 is World Alzheimer’s Day . This is a very important day to remember and a great cause to contribute your time and your donations too. I have a relative with Alzheimer’s and I know exactly what it can do to a person and their loved ones. It is very devastating to see someone go from full of life, independence and vitality to being completely dependant in constant need of care and not to even remember their own grandchildren within less than a years time. It is nice to know that you can help out in fighting for a cure in this cause like hosting a Purple Party event. And there are just so many things that you can do. If you are having a bridal shower instead of getting gifts you can ask for donations instead which is what my sister in law is doing. She has a home already and doesn’t really need anything and her grandmother suffered from Alzheimer’s for 3 to 4 years before she died. You could also host a dinner or even better a desert party! And kids can get involved with this as well…perhaps have a local car wash where all the proceeds go towards this cause and while you are at it have a little bake sale stand there too so people can buy cookies or brownies while their car is being washed. The possibilities are just endless in what you could do to help but just keep in mind a certain code of ethics and keep your hosting parties clean and respectable. And keep in mind also that all donations in September will be matched dollar-for-dollar by The Harrah’s Foundation. It is not too late to sign up at Purple Party to host your party. And what is great about this is that registering when you register your party at actionalz.org you will be able to make your own page for your party. That way you can send an email reminder to your guests and if they can not attend they can still make donations right online. It is a great way to start out this upcoming holiday season…knowing that you have helped a great cause! Giving is truly the best gift!! Filed under: September
