So today is less salt day. That is a good thing. I personally do not like very much salt on anything. Except chicken. I like it on chicket but that is about it. I hate it on pizza and steak and stuff. Although I don’t really like steak all that much anyways. So if you like salt try to limit it at least for today. Try herbs and other things instead! Today is Daffodil Day which is a little odd if you ask me because there are no daffodil’s that are in bloom this time of year. You would think that this day would be in April or May or something but not in August. I just love Daffodils though - because that means Spring is finally here and after a long winter it is just so nice to see the flowers blooming again! Filed under: August Comments: None |

Hmmm….do you think that Six Flags or some other really big waterpark company made this one up. Actually, I like it though…any reason to go to the water park is a good and fine reason for me!! And the season is sadly almost over fo this sort of thing. I did not go nearly as many times as I wanted to go this year. It was a weird summer htough. Sometimes you just have to remember to breathe I think. I like throwing my own likttle holidays in every once in a while. I know that you breathe without thinking about it at all most of the time but sometimes you just have to stop and take really deep breathes. It helps calm you down and it helps your circulation and your appareance actually. And it makes you stop and think. I do this at least once a day and I always fee l better afterwards. Be a little nicer today. Take the time to do something nice for someone that you don’t know. Or better yet - take the time to do something for someone that you do know. Sometimes we take for granted those who love us and do the most for us. Now is time to repay them an do somethin nice for them. And if you do it for just no reason and not because it is their birthday or something it just is that much more special. Today is a great day to pactice those good manner that may have been falling a little short lately. Do not forget what you mom always use to say to you - always say please and always say thank you. Say excuse me and your welcome…you know all hte stand by basics. I think that if we all just practiced a little more good manners and that goes for manner in your car too…then people would be less hostile. I personally like blueberry turnovers but today is a day where you have to get those cherry turnovers to enjoy for your snack and dessert today. Do not waste your water day…that means if it rained last night them please do not water your lawn today. Have a little consideration for the environment. Also turn off the water if you are brushing your teeth. Do not just let the water run and run. And keep your shower time to a minimum. Do not fall asleep standing up in the shower. What better way to spend the end of your summer doing something as fun and as relaxing as Golfing. I personally like to miniature golf but I know many people that just really love to go out to the golf courses to put in an 18 hole game. Today is National Dog Day so take your favorite canine friend and pamper them today. Take them for that long nice walk that they love and then give him/her that fovorite treat that they love to snack on. Or perhaps take your dog to the lake or the beach for a nice even walk. I am assuming the person that came up with this probably got sick eating some bad food at a restauraunt because someone didn’t wash their hands or something. It is so important to remember this though. You could get other sick as well as yourself. Just take the 15 seconds to wash your hands. It is a no brainer and it will keep you healthy and help you avoid those pesky germs and colds. And the cold season is coming up again. At least for me. What is why day…well for me why day could be a reflection on many things that you ask yourself why. I personally think that there should be a why not day. That would be better. But it is why day. So take the time to day to sit down and think about why you do things the way you do. Perhaps it is time to change some of the things that you do so that you can better yourself. Today is a great day to just get it all done. Especailly if you have not gotten all of your stuff. If you are in college or going to college then you better hurry up there. And if you are starting school next week tell your parents you need stuff. The stuff that kids ned for school these days is unbeilievable. Most kids get a list of things that they need for the following year by the new teacher the last day of school. And then you have the classroom wish list of like 20 items. I just love breakfast. In fact, it is my favorite meal of the day and waffles are among the top 5 of my favorite breakfast foods! And that is why I like today which is National Waffle Day. What better way to start the day than to have a great breakfast of waffles perhaps with fresh fruit on it and whipped cream…I am getting hungry just thinking about it! Today is Make Up Your Own Day - that is right…why not! Half of these crazy holidays were made up by someone somewhere right! So why not you. Choose a category or something and make it up with your kids even. And make it an annual holiday for you. It can be a specail day for the family. I have one it is called National Pizza Festival Day and it is coming up soon. We make home made pizza’s every year on this day. So make it up and make it special to you! I think that everyone should have this holiday at least one a week if not once a day. Take your time. Life goes by fast enough without having to worry about the small things. Don’t stress over things you can not control. Enjoy the little things and just relax and slow the pace down. If it has to get done…it will get done. Did you know that we are in the middle of little league baseball world series week! It was always fun to go and watch the little league games when I was little. Seeing all my friends play…I wasn’t all that good or really interested in playing but I sure liked to cheer for my friends. Today is Potato Day. And there are just so many things that you can do with the potato. In fact, they are in season I believe and they are just so tasty with they are fresh. Especially if you cut them up and make them in olive oil and seasonings…taste better than restaurant potatoes. Or make some hash browns with them…delicious!! Happy potato day!! Today is homeless animals day - it is reserved for the 3rd Saturday of August every year. If you have ever wanted to take in a pet or get a stray or a mutt then today is the day to got down to your local homeless animals shelter and choose one for your family. Did you know that today in 1938 the Wizard of Oz premiered. That is just such a classic movie too and I remember when I was young I just loved it when they would play it that one time a year. Today is national build a sandcastle day. Head out to the beach for those final outings and build that big sandcastles. DO not forge to bring lots of bucks and shovels though. I use to make the coolest things out of sand not necessarily sand castles but we would make turtles and fish and all sorts of neat things…so fun! August is national children eye health and safety month. So it is a good time to get those eyes checked especially since school is right around the corner. You wan tto make sure that you children are able to read the books and see the teacher and the board. Not to mention that it is Get Ready For Kindergarten Month - how fun and yet sad is that! Today is popcycle day….and who does not like a good popcycle right! And I don’t know about your area but it is just so nice here. So go outto the store and get that popsycle. You can get a whole box of 12 for like $1. Or you can be over chared and get just one for like $50. I hate it when stores epecially the grocery stores do that. I just made this day up…why not. I did so because I learned how to jump rope on this day. And I know this because of a pictures with a date on it obviously. So I decided to try to teach my niece how to jump rope. It was actually very cute. She tried so hard but couldn’t quite get it. But I am sure I didn’t get it that first time either. Today is Best Friends Day. Today would be the most perfect day to let your best friend know how much you appreciate their friendship. Get thiem a little gift or why not go out forl unch or dinner with them. Friends are just so important so when you get a good one it is a good idea that you let them know. I think that today is a great day. Because I just love to have a creamsicle on a hot summer day. I love orange sherbert so it is the perfect treat for me. This month is Cataract awareness month. And I just found out that my 90 year old greandfather has cataracts brought on by his glaucoma. And he will be needing surgery otherwise he will be completely blind in one eye. And they have to do the surgery the old fashion way and not by laser because of his glaucoma. I don’t know about you but I just loved kool-aid when I was little. I actually get the lemonade kool-aid once in a while because it is just so tasty. If you are a middle child then today is your day. Sometimes the middle child does get pushed aside or lost in the crowd at times. For example they are always sure to get those hand me downs but for some strange reason the baby of the bunch gets new stuff. Do get me wrong I know many middle children that were actually given special treatment and things because the parents felt bad for that middle child. Anyways…today is your day so enjoy!! I don’t know about you but I just love to play in the sand and today is a great day to do so. Just head out to the beach and play in the sand. There is not a cloud in the sky and it is not so hot that you are completley melting away. I just think it is so nice to sit on the beach and stick your feet int he warm sand.
