2008 Christmas Shopping
Posted on 01.10.08 by holiday @

Well folks…now is the time to do all your shopping for certain things now. And ebay has great offers for people cleaning their stocks. Get your wrapping paper now from the stores but you can go on ebay and get little things. Like lights, tree toppers, trees, ornaments and perhaps even that electric train that actually goes around the tree - how cool is that. That is what I am getting so that I have it for next year. If you get a little exch year when the prices are down and low that is they way to go!

Christmas Trees
Posted on 01.07.08 by holiday @

I personally think that the Artificial Christmas tree is really the way to go when it comes to the holiday season. I like to see the pine trees alive and outside - decorate them outside rather than cutting them down to only be able to enjoy for a month or so. And with the beautiful Artificial Christmas trees that are out there these days why would you want to cut one down. This way you can have a beautiful tree inside to decorate as well as nice Christmas trees outside to decorate. And at the Christmas Tree Market you just can not go wrong with their selection. They have a ton of tree to choose from!

They also have a great selection of tree skirts, lights and other decorations and accents that are just a must have for the holiday season. And they have great sales going on during the season as well. Sure the holiday season is over but why not get that Christmas trees early…I mean really early this year. That way you will be all set for the 2008 Christmas season! I always do my holiday decoration and wrapping paper shopping right after the holidays and just put it away for the year and then when the time comes I am all set and I can just enjoy the season without having to get all this stuff for it! Check out this site for the best trees on the net!

New Years Eve
Posted on 12.31.07 by holiday @

Wow!! This week just really went by quick. I can not believe that it has already been a week since Christmas! It seems like it was just yesterday but at the same time it seems as though it was just so long ago. Well, today is New Years Eve. I hope everyone has a great day and evening at the parties…just be sure to not drink and drive. It is not the way a person should enter the new year…sick or even worse in the hospital!

Candy Canes
Posted on 12.27.07 by holiday @

Well, I missed national candy cane day. It was yesterday on the 26th. In fact there is really nothing to celebrate or any weird holiday for today the 27th. I just love candy canes…there is nothing like the taste of peppermint especially this time of year. There are times that I just can not get enough peppermint and candy cane but only in the form of a candy cane. I don’t like other peppermint things like chocolates or drinks…just candy.

Kwanzaa!
Posted on 12.26.07 by holiday @

Happy Kwanzaa! When I was little I didn’t even know such a holiday even existed. My nieces and nephews learn all about many different holidays for different cultures throughout the year which is really great I think. I think that it is very important to learn about out people’s cultures. it was created in 1966…which is probably why I never really knew or learned about it. Happy Kwanzaa to all out there!!

Merry Christmas
Posted on 12.25.07 by holiday @

Well, I hope that every one had a great day today. Merry Christmas!! I can not believe that it has come and pretty much as gone at this hour of the day. It is just amazing that the day and this month goes by just so quickly. Time is a funny thing sometimes - it just goes by way to quick. I t hink we should spend more time living fo the moment rather than for the future and what is to happen in a months time. Oh well…Merry Christmas!!

Learn Your Roots
Posted on 12.23.07 by holiday @

Today is Roots day. It is a great day to learn more about your roots and your geneology. Learn about your relatives and your family and where you came from. Sometimes learning where you came from can really help you understand many things about you and your family. I just find it very interesting to learn of my relatives pasts - it is very important also I feel especially passing on traditions and other bits and pieces of information about your families past.

Festivus!
Posted on 12.23.07 by holiday @

Today is Festivus! I just love that show Seinfeld… in fact I think that many things that happen in life can always somehow be related to an episode of Seinfeld. It is just really kinda weird how that works but for some strange reason it really does. So happy Festivus and don’t forget to aire your greivances. That is just a great episode. I remember when I first saw that particular show that I just laughed my head off it was just so very funny!!

Flashlight Day
Posted on 12.22.07 by holiday @

Today is flashlight day! It is a great idea to have this sort of day - it is always good to make sure that your flashlights are working right and the batteries are are all charged. It just always seems that you need that flashlight when you don’t know where it is or when it is just not working. It is just a good idea to also have those candles ready especially this time of year…and the storms are coming or are even here which means that you maybe without power for a bit.

Abilities
Posted on 12.22.07 by holiday @

Today is national abilities day. A great day to recognize as well as celebrating the abilities of others as well as yourself. Everyone has natural talents and abilities the thing is to try to find it and make the most of what you have. And it is also important to appreciate the abilities that others have. It is also important to make sure that you recognize the abilities of our children and give them that support that they need to make the most of them.

Haiku Poetry
Posted on 12.22.07 by holiday @

Today is Haiku Poetry day. I remember learning this sort of poetry when I was in elementary school. Not to many schools and teachers teach this sort of poetry anymore actually. If I remember right there are 3 lines that have certain syllables. The first line has 5 and the second has 7 and the last one has 5 syllables. It is a poem that many children have success making and then they can make nice pictures to go along with it. I never really was impressed with Haiku poetry though - it is fun to make however.

The Weekend Before!
Posted on 12.22.07 by holiday @

Well, it is the weekend before Christmas so everyone is out trying to get that last minute shopping completed. Hopefully there are not people starting because they are cutting it close that is for sure. And do not over pay for that shipping - there are sites and places out there that grossly over charge. I got a few thin books and it cost $10 for them and they were going to charge me $40 to ship them. That is just absolutely insane!

Our Forefathers
Posted on 12.21.07 by holiday @

Today is our Forefathers day. A great day to reflect on who our forefathers. I think it is really interesting when you look back into history and our forefathers you find out a lot of great infromation that actually can be quite fascinating. My husband is a history nut… he just loves to read up on this sort of stuff…so today is a great day to do so. And now with the internet it is just so easy to find anything on our forefathers. Happy Forefathers Day!

Underdog Day
Posted on 12.21.07 by holiday @

Today is Underdog Day…I just loved that cartoon Underdog. There was a movie that came out earlier this year that I didn’t see but I think it is out on Video now but I just really wasn’t interested in that. Or perhaps this is a day about the underdogs of the world - t he teams and the people that really do not think are going to make it or win and you just have to route for them not because you feel bad but that most people like to see the underdogs win!

Humbug!!!
Posted on 12.21.07 by holiday @

Today is Humbug day!! Bah Humbug right! There is always someone that feels this way about the holidays and probably feels this way just about anything. Everyone I think feels a little but of Humbug at one point or another during this time of year especially getting so close people get a little stressed and they may just feel a little overwhelmed. Hopefully by Tuesday the Humbug feeling would have passed. Sometimes I think the anticipation of a holiday is far greater than the actually event…sometimes!

Mudd Day
Posted on 12.20.07 by holiday @

Well, today is considered Mudd Day - and if it was spelled like Mud I would say it would be the perfect day for such an occassion because it is just so incredibly muddy outside it is just really gross. And I do not like the snow but I would love to see a nice little 1 inch layer fall just to cover up the complete and total mess but apparently it is going to be quite warm…well when I say that I mean that it is going to be in the 40’s this weekend which is rather warm for right now at least.

Getting Closer
Posted on 12.20.07 by holiday @

The holidays are a getting closer…it is just getting exciting now and I just can not wait. It is weird this year..it is not like I am expecting or awanting anything special either…I just think that I am looking forward to spending a quiet christmas at home. I am not going to have to waste the morning getting ready to spend that day at someone elses house…very glad this year too!

12 Days Of Christmas
Posted on 12.19.07 by holiday @

So I had a debate with my husband and he said that the 12 days of christmas were the days that were leading up to them and I said they are the 12 days after Christmas and I looked it up and I was right but he insists it means that it is the days that are leading up to them. And that is because a lot of TV stations also make it so that it is the days leading up to them.

It’s About Time
Posted on 12.19.07 by holiday @

I just can not wait til Christmas this week…I really don’t know why but I think it will be a nice holiday this year…nice and quiet at least. And actually Christmas day is the beginning of the It’s About Time Week…which is just so true. We wait and prepare and think about this month and that day and week for so long and it finally comes and then it is gone. I think soemtimes the anticipation of things like that is just far greater than the actually event half of the time!

Language Week
Posted on 12.19.07 by holiday @

Did you know that we are in the mist of this being International language week. December is a great time to start learning that new language that you have always wanted to learn but just never quite got around to learning. Why not….what better time than the holidays than to try to reach out to others languages and cultures and learn more. I have always wanted to learn another language and I took another language in college and in high school but unless you really committed yourself to learning it you never really truly do.

Posted on 12.19.07 by holiday @

Nothing is actually happening on December 19th - not everyday has a weird and unusual or even a usual holiday. Actually though…it is my mothers birthday that I knew about and kept on thinking about but happened to just forget aboutt his morning so I am very glad that I wrote down this date to jog my memory because I completely forgot even though I have remember fot the past week or so that it was goign to be today!

Chocolate Covered Anything Day
Posted on 12.18.07 by holiday @

Well, I missed it and I am just so upset about this…2 days ago it was chocolate covered anything day - and I just love chocolate covered anything…well, maybe not anything like ants or bugs or something but I just love crackers and chips and pretzels. I like to have chocolate covered on salty things - for some reason that just tastes so very good to me. Anyways, I hope that you didn’t miss and if you did then maybe you can recelebrate it today.

Poinsettia Day
Posted on 12.13.07 by holiday @

So yesterday was also poinsettia day. I just love getting these flowers. I always get a really nice one for my grandparents but I decided to get them a wreath this year. And these flowers if you take care of them really last a long time for the most part. I actually saw a pointsettia tree the other day and it was just so different … very unique I though. I was going to get it but I had already got something for them and I figured they really didn’t have a place to put this but it was really nice looking.

Gingerbread House Day
Posted on 12.13.07 by holiday @

Yesterday was actually gingerbread house day and I just love doing this. I was just talking about this yesterday the other day too which is rather funny. I just think that the gingerbread house and cookies are just a fun and traditional holiday thing to do and it just allows you nice quality time with your children or your family. And it is just so easy to do too especially if you get the premade ones - all you have to do is focus on the really fun part with is the decorating and the frosting!

BINGO!!!
Posted on 12.13.07 by holiday @

This month is the birthday of the game BINGO. It is a fun game. I used to play it in school but we would play for a prize and not money like many people do. It is more of a social gather sort of game I always thought rather than a hard core gambling sort of game. Just a time where people can get together. BINGO actually makes for great fundraisers for school programs or other organizational programs.

National Noodle Ring Day
Posted on 12.12.07 by holiday @

It is National Noodle Ring Day today…have you ever made a noodle ring before when you were little - I have - it is really messy but it is fun and I know alot of children take the noodles out of their soups and put it on their fingers especially when they are really bored and do not want to eat anymore. Don’t play with your food…that is what your mom says but noodle rings are just so much fun :)

Mountain Day
Posted on 12.11.07 by holiday @

Today is International Mountain Day. It is also the birthday of UNICEF. Usually UNICEF is big from Halloween until New Years. You always find people asking and giving to donations. Just make sure that they are safe and secure donations and not some person ripping everyone off. That is the sad thing about this time of year..there are just so many scams claiming to be legit non profit organizations.

Write To Your Friend
Posted on 12.10.07 by holiday @

This is the month to write to your friend because it is considered Write To Your Friend Month. And what a better month to do so with the holidays here and upon us. It is always nice to write to a fridne to whish them happy holidays. And you don’t have to write that letter to mail = you can always just email a letter just to see how your friends or family are doing. So take a few minutes this month to write to those people that you haven’t heard from in a while.

Nobel Prize Day
Posted on 12.10.07 by holiday @

Well, today is Nobel Prize Day…not many people will ever win or even see or even know someone that has one the Nobel Prize. But it is quite an honor to acheive in ones life time. So, I decided to read up a little on the people in the past that have won the Nobel Prize. It was interesting reading actually. You really do not hear too much about this prize. If you have one this award then congrats because it is a great achievement to say the least!

Identity Theft
Posted on 12.08.07 by holiday @

This month is national identity theft month…which I can see why this would be a very good month to be aware of this sort of theft. It is the holiday’s month and time of year and many things I am sure are being stolen - from simple gifts, gift cards and even identities. It is actually a sad sort of time that we live in where we have to worry about stuff like this but awareness could just possibly help you avoid this very problematic as well as possibly costly problem.

Shareware Day
Posted on 12.08.07 by holiday @

Today is shareware day. Personally, I really do not like shareware because it just really messes up your computer…at least it does mine. I do not like to download the freeware or the shareware because I hate all the ads and all the other junk that gets loaded in on my computer that you just can never get rid of and then you have popups all over the place and 5 extra toolbars that are completely useless. So - I don’t like the shareware day…I’ll pass on that one!

Read A New Book Month
Posted on 12.07.07 by holiday @

The month of December is Read A New book Month. It is a great time to just curl up in your favorite chair with a nice cup of hot chocolate and a fleece blanket and just read a really great book that you have been wanting to get and to read. Treat yourself to an early gift for yourself. Sometimes you just have to do that in order to get things that you really want…especially when it comes to books. I do not particularly like people to get me books unless they really know what I like.

Posted on 12.07.07 by holiday @

This month is Howdy Neighbor Month…a month to say hi to your neighbor and just to be that friendly neighbor. And it is a great time of year to do that anyways..at least it is easier or more toleralbe to be friendly this time of year to your neighbors :) So put aside all of your squabbles and conflicts and say hi - and give a wave to your neighbor. Or just a friendly gesture or hello when you see them in their driveway. It is always nice to be nice and friendly to others around you.

Cotton Candy Day
Posted on 12.07.07 by holiday @

Today is national Cotton Candy Day…and I just love cotton candy that is for sure! it is the best in the summer when you are at a carnival but it is always great to have and munch on when you are at the ice shows of the winter and holiday showers this time of year also. I like it until my fingers get too sticky though and then it just gets a little too messy and sticky for my taste. That is why you have to make sure that you bring wipes with you to wipe your hand otherwise the napkins will stick to you hand too!

Sign Up For Summer Camp…Already?
Posted on 12.07.07 by holiday @

This is definately a weird one…this month is considered to be sign up for summer camp month…why? I just do not get that one. I don’t even think that most if any of the summer camps are even thinking of the summer camps for 2008? It just doesn’t make any sense if you ask me. But that what this month is considered. I sure am not thinking about summer or summer camps for that matter…it is just too cold to be thinking of that kind of recreation!

Recipe Greetings Week
Posted on 12.06.07 by holiday @

Well we are half way through the Recipe Greetings Week. It is just a nice way to greet someone…instead of just a card…why not send a great recipe greeting. Perhaps something that you like to make - send out your favorite recipe to others this holiday season so that they can create that super dishes also for their holiday gathers. I think that a recipe swap or greeting this time of year is just a great way to celebrate the holidays and show people that you care.

Stress Free Holiday Family Month
Posted on 12.06.07 by holiday @

Ok - so this month is considered to be Nation Stress Free Holiday Family Month…that is a nice thought but I do not know of one person let alone family that does not endure some sort of stress this month of the year! However, if you do feel the stress coming on..take a step back and look at the big picture and debate whether or not the stress is really worth it in the long run. Remember it is a stress free month so keep that in mind and try your best to limit the stresses in your life for at least the month of December :)

Saint Nicholas Birthday
Posted on 12.06.07 by holiday @

Today is St. Nicholas Birthday. It is also National Pawnbrokers Day…and sometimes you can get nice things at a pawnbroker. The thing is you really have to know the place to make sure that you are not really getting ripped off. Sometimes these shops are a little bit of a gamble..however, sometimes you do get lucky and find and get really nice items. My mom got a really nice piece of jewelry…it is said to be real but she got it for such a great price and it just looks so pretty that she couldn’t pass it up.

Posted on 12.05.07 by holiday @

Today is a great day to spend with your baby. Forget the dishes and the chores and cleaning because it will be there in another day believe me. Spend really quality time all day today with your baby. Play and read and even sit and watch an educational sho with them. Theese are the years that you will never be able to get back so enjoy them now. You will find in years to come that by spending time with your baby your baby will be a better child because of it.

National Tie Month
Posted on 12.04.07 by holiday @

It is national tie month this month…which is kinda funny because many people will be getting ties this month for christmas. I think it is quite the popular gift to gift the father or the grandfather in the family. There are so many nice ones these days too of all different colors and qualities. And they are quite affordable…even the nice ones are not that high in price anymore.

Safe Toys And Gift Month
Posted on 12.02.07 by holiday @

This is the best month for Safe Toys and Gift Month to be occuring in since most toys and gifts are probably bought in the month of Decemeber. Especially this year…it is just so important to make sure that you find a toy that has not been recalled since so many toys have been recalled this year which is just horrible! So go out and buy that great toy but make sure that it is safe for the child that you are getting it for. And keep in mind the age of the child when buying gifts too.

Today is special education day. So perhaps you could get that special education teacher that you know something special or perhaps even just thank them for all that they do. It takes a lot to be a special education teacher…patience and skill for starters. Special education is not like it used to be either…which in some cases is a very very good thing. So, happy special education day to all out there that benefit from this and to all that help make it better each day.

It is just so important to wash your hands after you do things. And it is also very important to teach your children to do the same. So if you are one to forget to wash your hands then this is the week to start to remember again…and wash your hands after your shop also!!!
