Today is Winnie the Pooh Day. I just have always liked winnie the pooh…my favorite character is the Eyeore - I just love winnie the pooh. My husband hates it though…never a fan I guess. I mean I think they were over rated a few years back with everything being winnie the pooh..but I didn’t mind. Filed under: January and Weird Holidays and Observances Comments: None |

Today is also customer service day. I guess today is the day for the customers apparently. And customers are really needed obviously for business to be up and running successfuly and profitably. So I think that yes…customers should be appreciated and they should have special days…why not! Give us the extra discounts because we bought a lot of things this past holiday season…now is the time to thank us and markdowns are a great way to do so! Today is the first day of the Sundance Film Festival week. Personally, I just don’t really like these types of movies. I just don’t really get them. Some of them are so abstract and just very weird. It is just something that I don’t really get into. My sister however, loves to watch these sort of movies..I just don’t get them. I know someone that I went to highschool with that has to do with the Sundance Festival. Filed under: January and Weird Holidays and Observances Comments: 1 Comment |

I am watching American Idol and I just love these first couple of episodes. I don’t like the middle couple but the first couple of episodes are just so freaking funny. I just can’t stand it though…sometimes I swear that it is just a joke though because they are just so incredibly bad. i mean …some of them have to be a joke! Although it is great for a laugh that is for sure! Filed under: January Comments: 1 Comment |

Today is religious freedom day. I guess a day to express your religious freedom and to choose to believe in what you want to. You can choose to express it or you can choose not to that is what is so great about having that religious freedom. There are so many religions to believe in these days also. You just have to find that one that suits you best and something that you truly believe…Today is the day to do so…find what is best out there for you. Ok - really…this is one of the more crazy ones..because there is no such thing as a dragon. I mean this is just weird. Maybe you can go out and rent the movie Puff the magic Dragon. Or perhaps go and rent another movie that has dragon or dragon like characters in them. But I really don’t know what the point of this one it. I much prefer the Do Nothing Day that is also today…this one is just way to ridiculous to observe Filed under: January and Weird Holidays and Observances Comments: None |

Today is Nothing day. So I guess it is a day to just do nothing…no problem here!! I really don’t know who officially comes up with these official observances - Some of these things are just ridiculously stupid actually. But I don’t mind this one. I wish there was a Take a Nap day coming up soon or a Sleep as late as you can day Filed under: January and Weird Holidays and Observances Comments: None |

Well, it is January and people are starting to get ready for their taxes to be prepared. You are starting to see the commercials for things like Turbo tax and those kinds of online and software programs. And people are calling their tax guys to make that appointment….hoping that they will get something back or at least break even and not have to owe money. It is a slightly stressful time of year. It is mentor month and I think it is the perfect time to mentor a student or even mentor someone that is new at your work. It is always nice to have someone to lean on when you are new in a business. I know personally that when you enter a new position in a company you are not familiar with it is just always nice to have some one there to walk and talk you through the basics of a company or position. So become a mentor and help someone out that needs it. Filed under: January and Weird Holidays and Observances Comments: None |

This week is home office safety month. Which is a good time to have it. Check all your fire alarms and perhaps your carbon monoxide detectors as well. It is always good to do this. And with your office being at home you are really at home quite a bit..even more reason to make sure that your home is safe and sound. So take the time to do this - don’t wait til next week because this is the week to do it. Filed under: January and Weird Holidays and Observances Comments: None |

Today is champion of the month day. Personally, I think that we are all champions at something - even if it is being the champion at speed dialing on the telephone. It doesn’t have to be the olympics…you can be a champion at almost anything as long as you are the best at it. And even then there are interpretations of what a champion is. So happy champions day to all today!!! Filed under: January and Weird Holidays and Observances Comments: None |

So it snowed today - that is a good thing. It had been rather warm and it was just weird being the middle of January and all. Besides that is why people are getting so sick. You need the snow to actually clean out the air so that there will not be as many germs and viruses floating around. And it definately snowed today and the kids got out of school and now we can all go outside and make some snowmen and have some fun!! Filed under: January Comments: None |

I is ironic that this is glaucoma awareness month because my grandfather has glaucoma and is practically going blind because of that and a cateract that he has. He is actually going for surgery on this problem today so that he does not completely lose his site. There is a chance it may not work but it is worth the risk of surgery he thinks..he does not want to spend the rest of his life not being able to see…it would devistate him I think. Today is clean off your desk day…I think for the most part January is a month to just clean up everything to start for a new year. And not to mention it is like a head start on that spring cleaning everyone always dreads to do each year! I like to have a clean desk - there is nothing more aggrevating than not being able to find something on your desk. Not to mention that it just looks absolutely horrible to others and I hate clutter. So clean off your desk today! Filed under: January and Weird Holidays and Observances Comments: None |

It is time to organize your home today. And it is a perfect day to do so because it is just horrible weather outside and if you are not going anywhere then you mind as well get some stuff done in and around your home. And you don’t have to do it all at once because that is just too overwhelming. I personally like to just take one room a week to concentrate on cleaning and fixing up and that way I am never really behind in my cleaning and it is less overwhelming!! Isn’t funny that when a big snow storm is predicted that everyone goes out to get bread and milk. Here is the thing with milk…if you power goes out then your refridgerator is not going to be working and all the milk you got will go bad? I would go out and get water….forget the milk during a storm unless you plan on making cookies or something and just hope that the power does not go out on you before they have been fully baked! Well, apparently this month is national gardening mail ordering month. I really don’t know why because it is rather cold outside and you can not plant it and even if you had a warm day where you could go outside and plant it the gardening sites or places that you would order you plants from would not send out your order now anyway depending on your location. But I guess it is nice to look ahead to the warmer weather. It gets a little depressing this time of year actually. Filed under: January Comments: None |

This month is penguin awareness month. I think that penguins are just so cute and it makes sence that we would have this awareness during the colder month of the year. I don’t quite know why we have to be aware of them because they are not endangered that I know of but it is nice to think about them…they are quite cute. WHen they are underwater swimming all together they look like bats underwater though - it is a little freaky. Filed under: January and Weird Holidays and Observances Comments: None |

So today marks the end of the Thank You Customers week. That seems appropriate and right…I mean for the past month or 2 customers have been all over the place and the business buying things for the holidays. The businesses and stores should thank the customers. I think that we should get more than a thank you though…maybe an even bigger discount for those after holiday specials. I think that is the best way to thank you if you ask me. Filed under: January and Weird Holidays and Observances Comments: None |

I do not know exactly what how to dance like a cuckoo but it seems like a lot of fun actually. I guess you just cuckoo like a cuckoo bird and dance around like a bird. Kinda funny. I know if I started dancing like this people would think that I am just absolutely crazy! I woul djust love to see my husband cand aroudn the house like this - that would be something to take the video camera out for that is for sure. So dance like a cuckoo this week!! The prices are just so high today on everything … if it is not the oil bill then it is your electric bill. So now is the time to try to cut the costs of your energy cost. Turn off the lights when you are not using them, turn off the water when you are not brushing your teeth. There are so many ways so that you can take an extra $10 to $15 off of your bill and if you can do that then it will add up to possibly over $100 a year you will save. And it is helping the environment as well. Filed under: January and Weird Holidays and Observances Comments: None |

The month of January is also Hot Tea month….I just love tea. I have been drinking White tea lately and I just absolutetly love it. I have a few favorites of tea. I actually like more tea - another one of my favorites is elderberry tea. This is actually extremely healthy and will help you get over colds quite nicely. There is nothing like a nice hot cup of tea on a very cold winter night and right about now it just sounds so good because it is freezing outsite!! Did you know that this month is national skating month! I love to ice skate and I have not ice skated in just so long. It is clean up your computer month…makes sence. I think it is a great idea to clean up your computer every once in a while. Half the stuff you probably do not even need on your computer. So just get rid of it. Do a little spring cleaning and it will make your computer so much faster as well. The more junk you have on your computer the slower it is and if you are not using that junk then why in the world do you want to keep in on your computer!! Did you know that January is International Creativity Month…And I think that more people should explore their creative side. Especially the young children…so many kids lose their creativity or never even develope it because of television but not just that. I think that the videio games really take away the time the children should be being more creative…drawing, painting or just imaginary play. Put away the video games and consoles and turn off the tv and give your child something different to do…and you too!!! Filed under: January and Weird Holidays and Observances Comments: None |

Today is English Toffee Day! I just personally love english toffee but it has to be surrounded by chocolate. Although lets face it…practically anything tastes delicious when it is covered in chocolate. I didn’t like toffee when I was little but I had it once when I was in college and it was just really good. So if you like toffee or you have never tried it before then go out to your local candy store and try some. Every try Toffee Coffee…it is really great - I have only tried it once though. Ok…so I have heard of the show and tell day at school for very young children…but never a show and tell day at work. but actually that may not be a bad idea. And I think that it could be actually quite fun now that you think about it. I mean it is a great way to get the team working together and just get the co-workers closer together if that is what you need and what you are looking for in your business. Try it and see how it works…but today is the official day to do it! Filed under: January and Weird Holidays and Observances Comments: None |

My husband actually looks forward to morning because he just loves his coffee - he is literally addicted to it and he just loves to try different flavors and brands. Sure he has his favorites but they change from time to time and from season to season. So if you like coffee then this is the month to go on out and try that gourmet coffee you have been craving!! Do you like Oatmeal? I am not really that fond of it but I do enjoy oatmeal cookies every once in a while. I just do not like the morning quaker oatmeal. I have tried many flavors and every once in a while I will get some but then I realize that I really do not like it at all and it stays in my cupboard for months at a time until I just decide to get rid of it because I know that I will never eat it and it has expired anyways. But if you like Oatmeal this is the month to eat I guess! Filed under: January and Weird Holidays and Observances Comments: None |

Today is Trivia Day - I love that game. I think that is one of the funnest games to play with a group of friends or family. I just love chocolate covered cherries. My Dad use to get them all the time for my mom and I think I would end up eating half of the her box because hey were just so good. I just bout like anything that is chocolate covered but cherries are on the top of the list. Actually I like chocolate covered strawberries the best but if you get the better boxes of chocolate covered cherries they are just fabulous because they have that candy syrup in it also. Ok - this is national diet resolutions week. Yes…everyone seems to make that pledge to lose weight or get in better shape or even to just eat more healthy…this lasts for most people until February or March. And then things just kinda fade away. You cheat a little here and there on great little treats and desserts and then you don’t have time to work out every day….and then after a while you just forget it or just forget about it until the holidays come around again!
