Did you know that November was I Am So Thankful month? it is an appropriate month to celebrate this. Think of all that you should be thankful for…I am sure there is more than you can think of because people always think of the bad…but there is good too. So think back to this year of all thet thinks that you should be thankful for…for the small little things to the larger and more obvious things. Perhaps share your thanks with others also. Did you know that last week was better conversation week? I wish I would have because I never participate in good conversations and it is rather nerve racking at times. I just don’t like to be involved in stupid and mindless conversations especially with people that don’t know what they are talking about. So even if it is a week late for me or you…it is time to practice better conversations with your friends and family. Filed under: November Comments: None |

Today is the Rockerfeller Center Tree Lighting ceremony day!! How exciting is that! I just love it when they have big tree lighting ceremonies. Whether it is on tv or if it was in your local town. It is just a fun and exciting time of year. I love looking at all the lights. We always go out and ride through the towns to check out the great lights on the houses and trees!! There is just nothing special for today…today is a nothing day as far as holidays or observances are concerned - popular or weird ones. Although sometimes Thanksgiving falls on that date. I guess everyday doesn’t have a holiday. So sit back and relax and just enjoy your happy Tuesday…or make a special day or occation for your own reasons! Filed under: November Comments: None |

Today is Pins and Needles Day…no it does not mean pins and needles in the sence of when you hand or your foot goes to sleep and it is like it feels like pins and needles. It has to do with sewing pins and needles. I have not ever been that much of a sewing expert. I am more of a cross stitch lover. I love that sort of craft but thread and needles…I just can not work quite right. It always comes out completely wrong!! Perhaps today would be a great day to treat yourself to that nice new pin cushion! Filed under: Weird Holidays and Observances and November Comments: None |

OK….I really do not know anyone that needs this day to be around but today is the shopping reminder day…kinda crazy if you ask me but why not right. Maybe people need a little reminding that you should start now so that you will not need to do that last minute shopping. So here is your official remember…start shopping and start shopping now!! It is not just any pecan pie month but it is the Georgia pecan pie month. Did you know that pecan pie has a ton of calories in it…but it just is so worth it if it is a good one. I wouldn’t eat just any pecan pie but a homemade one that grandma slaved in the kitchen over…mmmm….it just tastes so great especially during this time of year for some reason. If you have never had a pecan pie you just have to try it! Filed under: Weird Holidays and Observances and November Comments: None |

I really do not know why there is a month that is dedicated to Impotency. I guess it is more of an awareness that if this is a problem that you have that you are not alone. Perhaps it is a month to raise awareness of this problem and perhaps find those solutions to the problem. Because sometimes this is very easily treatable. So if you have this problem..you are not alone and this is your month to find a way to aleviate this problem. Filed under: Weird Holidays and Observances and November Comments: None |

Today is floss your teeth day. It is a national day also. I think that every day should be a floss your teeth day and I think my dentist would agree with me on that one also. But today is a good day to start flossing if you do not already. It is a good and healthy habit to start and keep because your teeth and gums can really say alot about your overall health! I just love Thanksgiving because the food is just so great. I personally just love to have Turkey and the the desserts but the potatoes and gravy and the cranberry sauce…it is just great. Today is a great day to name your PC…why not right…you name everything else. Actually I think that you have to name your computer when you get it. I know when my husband got one a few years back now even..he had to name it when he was registering it and setting it up. So what did you name your computer. And if you did not name it yet..then name it. It is always fun to name things if you ask me. Or have your kid name it - I bet they would come up with a good one! Today is Mickey Mouse Day!!! I love Mickey Mouse and I have not been to Disney is just so long…too long if you ask me. It has changed around so much that what I have in my memories is nothing like what it is today. Maybe I should head on over to the Disney Store today and get a couple of Disney gift for the little ones in the family this year…everyone likes a Disney gift big or small. There are a lot of really nice things for adults also at that store. Filed under: Weird Holidays and Observances and November Comments: None |

It is the end of world kindness week…which should really not be the case because we should be kind all the time and any day or time of the week. It should be the starting point of practicing this kind of behavior all the time and every day. You should try to be kind all the time and keep it in the back of your head because sometimes you just forget to be kind and you may just say mean or hurtful things and sometimes not even realizing it. It is a good season to have this week too…be kind to your friends, family and strangers!! It will make for a nicer place to live in. Many people do not have patience for much of anything these days. But today is a day where you should try to practice and be tolerant of others. Although it is hard at times - today is national tolerance day so it is a good day to start being more tolerant in your life and towards other people. It would also maybe help ease you stress because when you are being intolerant your blood pressure I am sure is on the rise so by practicing this you may even help improve your health! So today marks the beginning of National Farm-City Week. If you are in the city you may just want to go out this weekend to explore the country and the farms. Perhaps pick up some fresh apples or a pumpkin for your pumpkin pie. Or if you live in the country or in a farm then you may just want to go into the city…do that Christmas shopping at all those great stores. It is nice to get out and have a change of scenery once in a while. City folks need a little rest and relaxation as well as the country folk - just needing to get out!! Did you know that this week is children’s book week. A perfect time to go on out and get that book for your child. Or just go to the library…you do not have to go out and get a book for them when you have a public library probably somewhere in the area. That way when you are done reading it to them or when they are done reading it - you can just return it and get a new one free of charge. A lot of schools I think are having book fairs this week too. I think it is always nice to see young children reading or trying to read. And today is a day to celebrate and acknowledge those young readers. Encourage them to read more and they may just enjoy reading which will just help them so much when it comes to school. And if they can not yet read then read to them. It is nice to have a parent read a story to you…even at 9 or 10 years old. Reading really does make for nice quality time spent together! Today is Kindness Day. Personally, I think that something like this should be everyday but today is the official day for it. So if you can do a nice act of kindness today - it would be very nice for all involved. It is just a nice feeling sometimes to be kind to someone or to do something thoughtful. Today is a day not to think of yourself but to think of other. So be kind today especially to the people you take for granted…like parents and siblings… Filed under: Weird Holidays and Observances and November Comments: None |

This week is National Animal Shelter week so it is time this week to visit your local animal shelter…perhaps donate some food to the animal shelter. Animal Shelters are always in ned of donations for food for their cats and their dogs. Or perhaps maybe you would like to save one of those sheltered animlas. Peronsally I have always had better luck with animals that were mutts and found in shelters rather than those pure breed animals. Check out your local shelter to see what you can do. The month of November is officially Aids Awareness Month. THis disease still affects so many people it is just unbelievable. And the really sad part about this is that in many dases it could just be completely avoided if you safe sex or better yet..no sex until you are married is practiced. Many young adults just do not think that something like this would ever happen to them but it does and every day. If there is a terrible disease that you have some control in not ever getting then I would take those precautions!! Filed under: November Comments: None |

Today is Child Safety Day…I think that every day should be declared schild safety day but I think today is a day to just really remember and think about things that you can do to protect your children and your family. Perhaps it is something as simple as just child proofing your home or maybe adjusting the car seats to make sure they are properly installed. Think about your child’s safely and what you can do today. Filed under: Weird Holidays and Observances and November Comments: None |

I just love cotton candy and I do not have it too often but when I do it is just so very tasty. I think the fairs and the amusment parks are where the most cotton candy is sold. Sure you can actually go out and purchase a cotton candy making machine for your home but I would ever use it. And besides then cotton candy wouldn’t be a special treat and wouldn’t taste as good if you had it all the time. So go out and find that nice pink or blue cotton candy and enjoy it today!! How can one not have brown shoes. In fact, I only have one set of shoes and they are black shoes. I basically just wear sneakers for the most part. The cheap kind at walmart are my favorite kind of sneakers so when they get all brown from the dirt and mud…at least I didn’t spend alot. Being a housewife as well as a working mom in most cases is a full time job for 2 people not just one woman! And you need a break and a day to just say…hey, this is my day so I am not going to clean..I am taking a break. I thing a nice ham and lettuce sandwich would be great with a pickle and some chips. It is easy to make and even easier to clean up so that just works for me!
