It is Horse radish month. I do not like horse radish and I do not cook with it either. I find it rather gross and it doesn’t taste all that great. My grandfather on the other hand always gooks with it. He is a huge fan of the horse radish and other spices that are like it. He cooks pretty good do but I can not handle his food. My stomach and digestive system just does not agree with it. But I have to say that it does always smell really good in his house. It is always a good idea to make that difference to children and this month is the perfect month to do so. It is make a difference to children month and sometimes it is just so easy to do. Sometimes the simplest things…actually most time the simplest things can make a difference to a children. Taking them out for ice cream or read them a book - it doesn’t take much but it means the world. Filed under: Weird Holidays and Observances and July Comments: None |

It is National family reunion month. I believe it because there are lot of get together that happen in he sunny month of July. It is a nice month to get together with everyone and you can get together outside so it is cheaper because you don’t have to rent that hall or anything. My husbands side of the family has a big reunion where they even get shirts and sweatshirts for everyone to wear. It is a big thing but it is a lot of fun! This month is air conditioner appreciation month and man do I appreciate my air conditioner. It was so hot last week it was just horrible. It was very oppressive so much so that if you went outside it was very hard to breath. But it is ok if you have the air conditioner blasting. Of course your electric bill will be through the roof but it is worth it and needed sometimes. Filed under: Weird Holidays and Observances and July Comments: None |

This month is blueberries month. I just actually went strawberry picking last weekend and it was so fun - I love doing that every year and I make a great strawberry pick. So not I have to think about going blueberry picking. I have a cheesecake recipe that would be just great with blueberries instead of chocolate chips. But it will just take so much better with fresh blueberries as opposed to the ones you buy in the stores. Filed under: Weird Holidays and Observances and July Comments: None |

It is restless leg syndrome week. If you experience this then you know how painful and frustrating it can be. And it is horrible in the late hours of the night. It can keep you up and just really make your life and daily activities just so much harder than they should be. So this is the week to learn more about it and be more aware about this disorder. And who knows…maybe you have it and you didn’t even know - now you can fix and treat the problem. Filed under: Weird Holidays and Observances and July Comments: None |

It is cell phone courtesy month so have a little courtesy and don’t be calling other peoples cell phones to bother them. I could not believe it but I got a telemarketer on my cell phone last week and I was just so upset. I mean that just is not right. I have to pay for their call on my cell phone because that takes up my minutes. That should be against the law and I was very upset about it. It is ice cream month! Yum - I love ice cream and to me every month is ice cream month. My favorite is chocolate chip but I will just about eat any flavor when it comes to ice ream. I like it In a bowl or on a sugar cone - pretty much any way. I just like ice cream. Ice cream sundaes are good too. I like strawberries and marshmallows on my sundaes personally. So go on out and get some ice cream this month! Filed under: Weird Holidays and Observances and July Comments: None |

It is Women’s motorcycle month. There are just so many women that have motorcycles. I never realized how many there were. And you can get really cool bikes for women too not like it use to be where you could just get the bikes that were primarily for men. I have even seen a pink bike. That was actually kind of cool. If I were a motorcycle rider I would like it. Filed under: Weird Holidays and Observances and July Comments: None |

It is rabbit week. I ha a little rabbit when I was little. His name was Bugs Bunny and he was a huge white rabbit that lived for 12 years. And then I got a black miniature bunny that was huge when I was in college but I had to give him away when I moved because I couldn’t take him with me. Went to a rabbit rescue shelter and they took him to find him a nice home. I like rabbits though. Filed under: Weird Holidays and Observances and July Comments: None |

It is national parenting gifted children week. Yes…all parents things that their children possess a certain talent and/or gift. Every parents can sees the best in their child even though they may not be nearly as good as they think they are but that is ok - they are their part so they are proud of their child. Nothing wrong with that at all in my opinion. Filed under: Weird Holidays and Observances and July Comments: None |

So this month is Parks and Recreation month. I think that it is just so important to make sure that the park and recreation areas in your community are well taken care of. Keep them clean and safe because they are really a great place to go for and outing or to bring your children for the afternoon. It is a lot easier to keep them clean rather than have to repair them years from now. Filed under: Weird Holidays and Observances and July Comments: None |

It is Tour de France month. I never really new what this was until a few years back. I am not a bike rider and I really don’t follow it much at all other than if hey say something on the news about it. Never was a bike rider - I just didn’t like it - maybe because there was really no place to ride a be so I never did. The roads were just too bumpy and I didn’t like that at all. This month is Social wellness. It is good to be social because it actually can make you feel better about yourself and it is good for your over all health and wellness. Personally, I am not much of a social person. Never have been actually but when I do start to talk to people and socialize it is fun. I think it is just initially socialized with new people that I really don’t like. Filed under: Weird Holidays and Observances and July Comments: None |

My grandmother is now in a wheelchair hopefully just temporary because she loves to walk but she broke her hip and they miss diagnose d it so she did more harm by walking on it for so long. This month is Wheelchair Beautification. So if you have a wheelchair then it is time to make it really pretty. I have even heard of contests that you can enter. This month is Sandwich generation - it is a month to think about how sandwiches are made and how many sandwiches there are out there. I would live to have a sandwich named after me. I wonder what I would have in it. I think it would be turkey, mayonnaise, bacon, lettuce, tomato and Swiss cheese. Now I am getting hungry. I should go to subway and make myself a sandwich just like that J Sandwiches just make for a great lunch in my opinion. Filed under: Weird Holidays and Observances and July Comments: None |

This week is national unassisted homebirth week - good luck with that one! I would not want my child’s birth to be unassisted but that is just me and quite frankly I would not want it to be in my home. I would much prefer and rather have a birth in a hospital with professionals around to help me get through it. Especially if it is your first child…I just wouldn’t want to be alone doing it by myself … even though your do do it by yourself. Filed under: Weird Holidays and Observances and July Comments: None |

It is be nice to New Jersey Week. I didn’t know that we were mean to New Jersey but if you are then you have to stop this week and you have to be nice to them. There is nothing wrong with New Jersey. I have a friend that lives in a very nice part of New Jersey and she works in new Your City. It is little bit of a commute but she didn’t want to live in New York. I also work with someone that use to lie in New Jersey and she prefers that part of the country as opposed to this one. Filed under: Weird Holidays and Observances and July Comments: None |

It is nude recreation week - that is a little strange but if you are a nudist I guess this is your week. There are many topless and nude beaches out there. I have yet to go to one and personally I would not feel comfortable nude on a beach with other people that are nude on a beach but that is just me. If this is your thing then this is your week so enjoy it and have fun being nude! Filed under: Weird Holidays and Observances and July Comments: None |

It is international chicken wing week. I had a friend in high school whose mom would marinate chicken wings and it was just so good. She made the best wings I had ever tasted and I have not tasted chicken wings that even come close to how good hers was. I should have gotten the recipe but I didn’t cook back then. And now I have completely lost touch with this friend. Oh well…guess I’ll have to make my own recipe. Filed under: Weird Holidays and Observances and July Comments: None |

It is national bikini month. I am not one for the bikini. I use to wear them but I don’t wear them anymore . I am more of the tankini and skirting…a nice bathing suit that just covers pretty much about everything and anything. I am all for wearing a bikini if you have a great body. I say if you have it then you mid as well flaunt it while you have it because someday you will not be able to wear that bikini anymore…at least you shouldn’t wear that bikini any more. This week is sun awareness week. And it is a good time to do this because it is hot and the sun is very strong. And before you know it - you are outside for 30-40 minutes and you have a terrible sunburn. And if you have small children you really want to make sure that you protect their skin. Because they burn very easy and you don’t want to be on vacation and then having a painful sunburn on their neck or head. And be sure to wear sunglasses and hats! Today is Canada Day. I guess it is sort of like the 4th of July in the US. So if you live in Canada then happy Canada Day. Get out the BBQ and have your picnics. I am assuming that they also have a day off today. It is always nice to have the mid week day off as opposed to the Monday or Friday…unless they observed it on Monday. I like having a day off in the middle of the week…it breaks up the week better and it doesn’t seem as long. Filed under: Weird Holidays and Observances and July Comments: None |

Today is National HIV Testing Day. If you have not been tested for HIV and you really should then today is a great day to do so. It is just a simple test. This week is mosquito control awareness week and the mosquitoes are coming out. It is a good idea to have you yard sprayed. Actually what my neighborhood does is we all call the same day so that the truck comes to spray all of our yards because it is just more effective that way. I mean the mosquitoes in the neighbors yard are not just going to stay there…they are not dogs…they are going to fly in your yard so if large areas are sprayed at the same time it is more effective. It is always nice when you meet someone to shake hands because it is the friendly thing to do. I remember when I was little me and my friend would try to make up a really cool hand shake..we would always forget it by the next day though because it was so elaborate. Let it go can be easier said than done but sometimes it is just the best thing to do. Sometimes it really is the only thing to do.
